Emilia grew up in Cuenca, Ecuador, where the scent of toquilla straw and the rhythmic tap of weaving filled her childhood. Her grandfather was a paja toquilla artisan, and she spent summers learning the ancient techniques that give Panama hats their unmistakable quality. After studying fashion business in Quito, she returned home to launch her own label, blending traditional craft with contemporary design. Her small atelier operates out of a colonial-era building near the Tomebamba River, and she personally oversees every stage—from selecting straw to the final blocking.
