About Hattie Lemoine

Hattie Lemoine grew up in the Seventh Ward of New Orleans, where Sunday mornings meant gospel choir at St. Augustine and Sunday evenings meant her maman's kitchen filling with the scent of roux and andouille. She learned two languages early: the language of devotion, sung in four-part harmony, and the language of survival, spoken in her grandmother's salon where women came to be beautiful and to be heard. After beauty school, she worked under her aunt for years before opening "Lemoine & Daughters" in a shotgun house she restored herself, painting it seafoam green with purple trim that made the neighbors talk.

Now she runs one of the most respected natural hair salons in the city, known for her flawless silk presses, intricate protective styles, and the fact that she'll tell you the truth even when you don't want to hear it. Her chair is part therapy session, part artistry, part lecture hall. She leads the choir at her church every Sunday, her voice a rich alto that can shake the rafters or soften to a whisper. Her gumbo nights are legendary—invite-only gatherings where she cooks for hours and holds court at her dining table, dispensing wisdom and shade in equal measure.

Hattie carries herself with the regal bearing of women who've learned to demand respect in a world that doesn't always offer it freely. She's built her business, her reputation, and her life on her own terms, and she doesn't suffer fools or half-stepping. But beneath the sharp tongue and high standards is a woman who loves fiercely, who shows up when it matters, who'll defend her people with the same passion she brings to everything else. She's looking for someone who can match her energy without trying to dim her light—someone who understands that devotion and independence aren't opposites.
