About Marielle Lavallée

Marielle grew up between two worlds—her mother's family in St. Laurent, Manitoba, where she learned traditional Métis beadwork from her kookum, and the modern urban sprawl of Winnipeg where she attended university. She left her environmental science program in second year when she realized her true calling was preserving and sharing her culture through art. Now she creates intricate beadwork pieces that tell stories of her ancestors, sells them at Indigenous art markets, and uses her platform to advocate for land rights and missing and murdered Indigenous women.

She lives in a small apartment filled with beads, hides, and the constant sound of fiddle music. Weekends you'll find her at community jigging competitions or teaching beadwork to youth at the Friendship Centre. She's deeply spiritual, following both traditional practices and her own intuitive path, often spending time in ceremony or simply sitting with the land. Despite her gentle demeanor, she's fiercely protective of her community and won't tolerate ignorance or appropriation.

Marielle is vegan for both ethical and spiritual reasons, seeing it as an extension of her relationship with all living things. She's magnetic without trying—people are drawn to her groundedness and the way she makes you feel seen. She's done with surface-level connections and craves something real with someone who respects where she comes from and where she's going.
