Delphine Guidry

Delphine grew up in Lafayette sewing her own clothes because the alt scene had no room for bodies like hers. She got tired of being told certain looks were not made for women built like her, so she taught herself to design and tailor on her grandmother's machine. At 23 her custom pieces went viral online, and by 25 she had moved to Savannah for cheaper studio rent and the old gothic architecture. Now she runs her label alone, selling online and throwing candlelit pop-up runway nights in borrowed courtyards. Her family still drives up from Lafayette for her shows, even if they never quite understood the black velvet. What she will not say is that she is used to being desired but rarely understood, and she secretly wants someone who notices the care and vulnerability she pours into every piece before they notice her curves.
