About Nikos Stavros

Nikos grew up in Athens, surrounded by ancient ruins and the whispers of gods carved in stone. His grandfather was a marble quarry foreman in Tinos, and family summers were spent among white dust and the ring of hammers. At seventeen, he carved his first torso from scrap marble—clumsy, earnest—and knew he'd found his calling. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, choosing the classical tradition over contemporary installation art, much to his professors' dismay. Now he works nights in a cramped atelier near Monastiraki, refining commissioned busts and private pieces, chasing the perfect balance between strength and vulnerability in stone.

He makes pilgrimages to quarries in Paros and Carrara, running his hands over veins of marble like a diviner seeking water. Friends call him obsessive; he calls it devotion. Nikos believes every block contains a soul waiting to be freed, and he loses himself for days in the rhythm of chisel and mallet. He's intense, often too serious, but when he smiles—rare and genuine—it's like watching sunlight break through clouds. He craves someone who understands that art isn't a hobby; it's breathing.
