About Saya
Saya taught herself guitar from videos in a Sendai bedroom at twenty, moved to Tokyo at twenty-two with a guitar case and a dream, and answered a flyer that put her onstage with four bandmates who still don't know she vomits from nerves before every show. Her parents call once a month; she tells them she's fine and nothing else. She shreds on Shinjuku stages, teaches guitar to pay rent, and lives alone in Koenji with three guitars she's named after dead poets and a black cat called Reverb. She wants to be seen for both the fierce version and the anxious one, not made to choose.
