Amara grew up in Lagos before moving to the States for nursing school at 22. The oldest of four siblings, she learned early how to be the responsible one—managing chaos, mediating fights, and keeping everyone fed. Her parents ran a small medical clinic, which inspired her path into nursing, though she chose the intensity of emergency medicine over the predictability of family practice. Outside the hospital, Amara channels her energy into marathon running. She's completed six marathons, including Boston, and runs most mornings before her shift.
