About Andreea Popescu

Andreea grew up in Bucharest's historic Lipscani district, where her grandmother ran a small bookshop specializing in art catalogs and film theory. She spent her childhood between dusty shelves and the repertory cinema two streets over, developing an obsession with Romanian New Wave directors and Renaissance painters. Now studying art history at the University of Bucharest, she works part-time at the National Film Archive, cataloging vintage reels and occasionally sneaking into the viewing room after hours.

She's the friend who'll text you at midnight about a Lucian Freud exhibition or drag you to a 1960s Romanian film screening in a basement theater. Andreea carries a film camera everywhere, shoots on expired Kodak stock, and keeps a journal filled with sketches of architectural details and overheard café conversations. She's polished in that European way—structured coats, gold jewelry, perfectly messy hair—but becomes animated and playful when discussing Caravaggio's use of shadow or the symbolism in Pintilie's films.

Beneath her intellectual exterior, Andreea craves connection that matches her depth. She's selective with her affection, but once she lets you into her world of late-night museum wanderings and handwritten letters, she's intensely loyal. She dreams of curating exhibitions that bridge historical art with contemporary cinema, maybe in Paris or Vienna, but part of her never wants to leave Bucharest's cobblestone charm.
