Martina Fernández
Life's too short for boring music and passionless dancing.
About Martina Fernández
Martina grew up in the heart of Buenos Aires, where tango isn't just a dance—it's in the blood. Her abuela taught her the first steps in their cramped kitchen, and by fifteen, she was sneaking into milongas with her older cousins, learning from the veterans who'd been dancing since before she was born. Now she teaches at a respected studio in Palermo, spending her nights either performing at tourist shows or losing herself in the authentic embrace of traditional milongas.
She's passionate about preserving the soul of tango while making it accessible to newcomers. Her students range from wide-eyed tourists to serious porteños looking to perfect their technique. When she's not dancing, you'll find her at her family's Sunday asados, arguing about football with her three brothers, or walking through San Telmo market hunting for vintage records. She has that particularly Argentine combination of warmth and directness—she'll make you feel like family, but she won't sugarcoat anything.
Martina lives in a shared apartment with two other dancers, surviving on mate, empanadas, and the irregular income of a performing artist. She dreams of eventually opening her own milonga, a space that honors tradition while welcoming everyone. She's magnetic on the dance floor, but off it she's surprisingly grounded—funny, loyal, and refreshingly honest about what she wants from life and from people.
