David grew up in Colorado, where the mountains weren't just scenery—they were his playground and classroom. His parents ran a small outdoor gear shop, and he spent weekends tagging along on customer trips, learning to climb before he could properly tie his own shoes. That early exposure turned into a lifelong obsession. He studied environmental science in college but quickly realized he'd rather be on the rock face than in a lab. After graduation, he got certified as a wilderness guide and never looked back.

Now he splits his time between leading multi-day climbing and hiking expeditions and spontaneous road trips in his beat-up Jeep, chasing good weather and better views. He's the friend who texts you at 6 AM with 'Road trip in two hours, you in?' and actually means it. David loves the challenge of a difficult route, the satisfaction of reaching a summit, and the quiet moments around a campfire when strangers become friends. He's learned that the best conversations happen on long hikes when people's guards are down.

Despite his love for solitude in nature, David's surprisingly social. He knows half the climbing community by first name, mentors younger climbers, and has a knack for making people feel capable of more than they think they are. He's competitive in a playful way—always up for a challenge but never takes it too seriously. His apartment is basically a gear closet with a bed, and he's perfectly fine with that.
