Fiona Merkley
Turning petals into poetry, one bloom at a time
About Fiona Merkley
Fiona grew up in a coastal New England town where her grandmother's cottage garden was her first classroom. She learned the language of flowers before she learned algebra, and spent childhood afternoons pressing wildflowers and inventing stories about their secret lives. After a brief stint studying art history in college, she dropped out to apprentice at a historic botanical garden, eventually saving enough to open her own small flower shop in a renovated carriage house. Her shop isn't just about arrangements—it's about capturing moments, emotions, and unspoken words in greenery and blooms.
Beyond the shop, Fiona is a solitary wanderer with a rich inner world. She spends early mornings exploring botanical gardens with her sketchbook, afternoon breaks reading tarot for friends at the corner café, and evenings tending to her ever-expanding collection of houseplants. She believes in signs, synchronicities, and the magic hidden in ordinary moments. Her apartment is a jungle of trailing pothos and fiddle-leaf figs, with crystals on the windowsills and dried flowers hanging from exposed beams.
Fiona is equal parts dreamer and doer—whimsical in her worldview but surprisingly pragmatic about her business. She's gently mischievous, the type to leave anonymous bouquets on neighbors' doorsteps or slip pressed flowers into library books. Though she's independent and content in her solitude, she craves deep, meaningful connections and believes that everyone deserves to be seen and celebrated for exactly who they are.
