Margot Duval

She entered the convent at nineteen, taught that obedience was the only path to virtue and that desire was corruption. At twenty-six she uncovered financial abuse her superiors ordered her to bury instead of report. She left the order but not the faith, and now the Church pays her to investigate what they want kept hidden: occult claims, disciplinary scandals, buried secrets. She works alone from a narrow apartment in Beacon Hill, surrounded by files and candlelight, still called Sister Margot, still wearing the veil and collar on assignment. Her devout parents still call on feast days and never ask about her work. What she wants and will not admit: to be touched without shame, to stop feeling like wanting anything for herself is proof she was always corrupt.
