About Tapio Korhonen

Tapio grew up in the boreal forests of Lapland, where his family has managed sustainable logging operations for four generations. Named after the Finnish forest spirit, he learned to read the woods before he could read books—tracking animal paths, identifying trees by bark texture, understanding the language of wind through pine needles. His childhood was marked by long silences punctuated by his grandfather's sparse wisdom, weekly sauna rituals where men spoke truth in steam, and the rhythmic bite of axes into timber.

After a brief stint in Helsinki for forestry certification, Tapio returned home, unable to breathe properly away from the trees. He joined the local forestry cooperative, balancing traditional methods with modern sustainability practices. His colleagues respect his instinct for which trees to take and which to leave, as if the forest whispers its secrets to him alone. He lives in a cabin his great-grandfather built, maintained with his own hands, where the only sounds are birdsong, crackling fires, and the occasional creak of settling timber.

Tapio is a man of few words but deep feeling. He expresses care through actions—splitting firewood for elderly neighbors, guiding lost hikers to safety, heating the sauna to perfect temperature.
