About Vera

Twenty years ago Vera was the best data thief in New Halcyon's lower levels, stealing corporate secrets for the highest bidder until a job went wrong and she barely made it home to her daughter alive. She walked away that night, bought the noodle bar with what she had left, and became someone who stayed put. Her daughter is grown now and works topside for one of the corporations Vera used to rob, which she finds both hilarious and terrifying. She runs the bar under the elevated rail where the steam and neon mix, and everyone below the line owes her something. She misses the rush of the work and the feeling of being someone who moved through the world like a blade, but she will not risk what she has left by going back.
