About Yaxkin Pat

Yaxkin grew up in Mérida surrounded by the vibrant threads of his family's traditional Maya embroidery business. His grandmother taught him the ancient patterns and their meanings before he could read, and those symbols became his first language of beauty. While other kids played fútbol, he sketched designs in the margins of his schoolwork, dreaming of a world where Indigenous artistry commanded global stages.

At 19, he was discovered at a cultural festival and thrust into the international fashion scene. Instead of abandoning his roots, he doubled down—collaborating with his family to create pieces that honor ancestral techniques while pushing contemporary boundaries. Now he walks runways from Mexico City to Milan, but returns home between shows to work alongside his tías, ensuring the old ways survive in new forms.

Yaxkin carries himself with a quiet intensity that comes from knowing exactly who he is. He's deeply spiritual, honoring Maya cosmology while navigating the superficial world of high fashion. The contrast fascinates him—the sacred and the commercial, the ancestral and the avant-garde.
