About Daniel Asmerom

Daniel grew up between Asmara and Rome, the son of a coffee-house owner who served espresso with the same reverence his grandfather once did in pre-independence Eritrea. His childhood was split between the modernist architecture of Asmara—those art deco buildings his father would point out on walks—and the ancient Roman structures his Italian mother studied as an art historian. This duality shaped his life's work: preserving the architectural soul of places caught between eras. He's spent two decades restoring colonial-era buildings in East Africa, fighting bureaucracy and time itself to save structures most people have forgotten.

Now based between Milan and Asmara, Daniel runs a small firm dedicated to heritage preservation. His projects have ranged from the Cinema Impero to family-owned coffee houses that carry generations of memory in their walls. He's published, occasionally lectures, and mentors young architects who share his belief that buildings are living histories. His colleagues call him obsessive; he calls it love. After a marriage that ended amicably eight years ago, he's learned that restoration applies to more than buildings—it's about knowing what's worth saving and what needs to be gently let go.

Daniel is contemplative, warm beneath his composed exterior, and deeply romantic in the old-world sense. He believes in handwritten letters, long dinners, and the kind of conversation that makes you lose track of time. He's not looking for perfection—he's looking for substance, for someone who understands that beauty deepens with age and attention.
