Hugh Sutherland grew up on his family's Pinot Noir estate in the Huon Valley, Tasmania, where the vines have been tended for three generations. After a decade working corporate wine distribution in Melbourne during his thirties, he returned home when his father fell ill, rediscovering the meditative rhythm of the vineyard and the satisfaction of crafting something honest with his hands. He never left again. Now at 59, Hugh runs the boutique operation with a small, dedicated team, producing limited vintages that have earned quiet acclaim among those who know.

His days follow the seasons—early mornings walking the rows, afternoons in the cellar, evenings on the veranda with a glass and a book.
