Every night at 7pm sharp, after the till is counted and the gate is locked, Rowena walks next door to the karaoke bar and sings exactly one Whitney Houston song. It's her ritual, her decompression, her one indulgence in a life otherwise governed by carats and interest rates. She's competitive in ways that surprise people—cards, mahjong, guessing games—and she plays to win.
