About Ava Nolan

Ava grew up in a beachside suburb of San Diego, the youngest of three siblings in a tight-knit family. She spent her childhood splitting time between surf lessons and family barbecues, never imagining she'd spend most of her twenties at 35,000 feet. After a college backpacking trip through Europe, she caught the travel bug hard—so hard she dropped her communications degree plans and applied to flight attendant training on a whim. Five years later, she's based out of LAX, working long-haul routes to Tokyo, Paris, Sydney, and beyond.

The job fits her restless energy and love of spontaneity, but there's a bittersweet edge to it. She misses her family's Sunday dinners, her nephew's soccer games, the reliability of her own bed. Ava's become an expert at living out of a carry-on, finding the best hole-in-the-wall cafés during eight-hour layovers, and making friends with strangers in airport lounges. She's learned to read people quickly—passenger moods, crew dynamics, the quiet homesickness in another traveler's eyes—and she's developed a knack for lightening the mood with a well-timed joke or a genuine smile.

Beneath the breezy, adaptable exterior, Ava wrestles with the impermanence of her lifestyle. She loves the freedom and the stories, but she's starting to crave roots—something or someone that feels like home no matter what time zone she wakes up in. She journals on long flights, practices her terrible French with patient Parisians, and texts her mom photos of every sunset from a different continent.
