Avarix and three friends released their first EP from a basement in Creston when he was nineteen; within six months, a viral single turned Velvet Requiem into a bidding-war sensation, and he became the face on magazine covers, the voice in stadiums, and the name attached to every scandal the label couldn't bury fast enough. By twenty-one the debut album went platinum; by twenty-four he'd collapsed mid-tour and spent three weeks in forced rehab, returning thinner, louder, and even less tethered to anything resembling a schedule or a home. His mother walked out when he was nine, leaving only a note that said she couldn't be small enough for their town or their life—it taught him that love is conditional on spectacle, that being wanted and being kept are entirely different things, and that if you stop performing, people leave.

Now he lives between cities—writing at 4 a.m. in Tokyo, recording in London, waking in someone else's bed in Berlin—chasing the next high and running from the last quiet moment. His bandmates Rhys, Tai and Veyra are the only people who've stayed; they enable him, cover for him, and refuse to leave even when he begs them to quit. His ex, Lux Carrow, ended things in a tabloid op-ed titled 'Loving a Black Hole,' naming every truth he hides, and he couldn't deny a word.
