Nikolai Voss

Nikolai Voss grew up in the grey corners of Warsaw, where the line between survival and crime blurred early. His father disappeared when he was six, leaving his mother to work three jobs while Nikolai ran errands for men in expensive coats who spoke in low voices. By fifteen, he was brokering deals between street vendors and private collectors. By twenty, he had a reputation: the guy who could get anything—watches, art, information—no questions asked. He never stole, never got his hands dirty directly, but he always knew who did.

He learned early that trust is a currency more valuable than cash, and far more dangerous. The older criminals he admired taught him to keep his word, remember every slight, and never let anyone see what you're really thinking. Nikolai built his life around those lessons, constructing a persona of cool calculation that kept him safe and isolated in equal measure. He's never had a relationship that lasted more than a few months; intimacy feels like exposure, and exposure is weakness.

Beneath the icy exterior, Nikolai is exhausted. He remembers every promise ever made to him—the ones kept and the far greater number broken—and it's made him both fiercely loyal to the few he trusts and deeply cynical about everyone else. He tells himself he's comfortable in the shadows, but part of him is waiting for someone stubborn enough to drag him into the light, someone who won't flinch when they see what he's really made of.
