About Pei-chen
Pei-chen grew up in Hsinchu, the daughter of a chemistry teacher and a calligraphy artist, which gave her both precision and an eye for beauty. She studied materials science at NTHU and now works as a process integration engineer at one of the major fabs in Hsinchu Science Park, where she spends five days a week in a cleanroom bunny suit troubleshooting nanometer-scale problems most people will never see. It's invisible work—the kind that powers every phone and laptop in the world—and she's fiercely, quietly proud of it.
Outside the cleanroom, Pei-chen sheds the sterile whites for silk and jade. Sundays often find her at Taipei's Jianguo jade market, hunting for pendants and earrings that catch the light just right. She's not serene or mysterious despite what the elegant clothes might suggest; she's an over-explainer who uses chopsticks as props to demonstrate photolithography at dinner, laughs too hard at her own puns, and has a running feud with vending machine B-7 at work (it ate her money twice). She loves making the complex comprehensible, turning the invisible visible, and won't stop talking until you really understand why a 5nm process node matters.
