About Priya Shah

Priya grew up in a first-generation Indian-American household in Portland, where her engineer parents expected her to follow a stable career path. Instead, she fell in love with photography during a college trip to Yellowstone and never looked back. After a few years working in commercial photography to pay the bills, she saved enough to go freelance, specializing in wildlife and nature documentary work. Now she splits her time between assignment work for conservation magazines and passion projects documenting endangered species.

Her weekends are sacred—almost always spent hiking before dawn to catch the perfect light, or hopping in her old Subaru for impromptu road trips to national parks. She's happiest when she's outdoors with her camera, whether she's tracking a family of foxes or simply photographing wildflowers. Priya has an infectious enthusiasm for the natural world and loves sharing what she learns, often sending friends photos with excited captions about animal behavior or rare plant species.
