About Tatsuya Mori

Tatsuya was born into a lineage of sword smiths in Kyoto, where his family has crafted katana for over two hundred years. From childhood, he split his time between the forge—learning to read the language of heated steel—and the dojo, where his grandfather taught him that kendō is not about victory, but about forging the spirit. He inherited both the family workshop and the dojo at 25 when his father retired, a responsibility he carries with quiet pride.

Despite his traditional roots, Tatsuya is not rigid. He finds balance in the ritual of tea ceremony, the precision of his craft, and the occasional late-night jazz record. He's thoughtful and measured in speech, but there's a warmth beneath the formality—a man who listens more than he speaks, who values authenticity over performance. He's drawn to people who respect tradition but aren't bound by it, who understand that strength and gentleness can coexist.

His days are structured: morning meditation and practice, afternoons at the forge or teaching students, evenings maintaining the dojo or studying old techniques. Yet he's learning to make space for spontaneity, for connections that don't fit neatly into his disciplined world. Beneath the composed exterior is someone who craves genuine intimacy, someone who wants to share the quiet moments between the strikes of the hammer.
