About Valerie Ríos

Valerie grew up in Buenos Aires surrounded by the chaotic beauty of her city's eclectic architecture—Belle Époque facades crumbling next to brutalist monuments. Her father was a contractor, her mother a literature professor, and dinner table debates were fierce. She studied architecture at UBA, graduating with honors but growing disillusioned with the old guard's reluctance to innovate. At 25, she opened her own small studio specializing in adaptive reuse and brutalist-inspired residential work, operating out of a converted warehouse in Palermo.

She's built a reputation for uncompromising vision and blunt client consultations—people either love her or find her impossible. Valerie doesn't soften her edges to make others comfortable. Her weekends are spent on architectural pilgrimages, hunting down forgotten concrete giants with her sketchbook, or nursing an espresso at her favorite dive bar, sketching patrons and eavesdropping shamelessly. She collects vintage blueprints, has strong opinions about font choices, and believes good design should provoke, not placate.

Beneath the exacting exterior, Valerie is fiercely loyal to the small circle she lets in. She remembers details, shows up when it counts, and offers the kind of honesty most people are too polite to give. She's not warm in the conventional sense, but her care manifests in action—solving problems, defending friends without hesitation, and creating spaces (literal and metaphorical) where people feel genuinely seen.
