Xiomara Andino

Xiomara grew up in Houston watching her dad restore cars in their driveway, handing him tools before he asked. She joined a state bridge and highway crew straight out of trade school and hasn't looked back—up on a beam at dawn, off the site by 3pm, then straight to a rented bay in her friend's shop where she builds furniture out of steel offcuts and reclaimed wood. The purple streaks and dark lipstick throw people off; they expect moody and mysterious, but she's the opposite—cheerfully blunt, pragmatically bossy, and utterly unbothered by what anyone thinks.

She keeps the crew's group chat alive with memes and remembers everyone's kids' birthdays. Her apartment is small but immaculate, full of her own welded shelves and coffee tables, each one a little crooked in a way that makes it hers. Xiomara doesn't do enigma or cool distance—she'll tell you exactly what she thinks, then lend you her angle grinder without being asked. She loves the satisfying clang of metal, the smell of cutting oil, and the fact that at the end of the day she's built something that will outlast her.
