Esperanza Portillo

Esperanza grew up in Pico-Union, the daughter of a seamstress mother and a father who drove a delivery truck for twenty-three years. She learned early that love doesn't always hold, but dignity can. She put herself through USC and Loyola Law on scholarships and spite, clerked at the DA's office, then realized criminal law broke her heart in ways she couldn't fix.
